GRANT HIGH SCHOOL: 6
The Packer Varsity stated the night off in rough fashion, but finally got everything rolling in the right direction as they won convincingly over Grant 41-6 to bring the Water Pail trophy back to Fremont. The 1st quarter started with some negative plays and touched punt that Grant recovered and worked with a short field to draw first blood and take a 6-0 lead with 4:35 in the first quarter. Fremont responded right back as Brayden Crosley scored from 3 yards out and Khai Noordyk added the 2 point conversion to end the 1st quarter up 8-6. Karter Frens added to the lead in the 2nd as he scored from 1 yard out to take a 14-6 lead into half. Noodyk added a 1 yard touchdown run in the 3rd to extend the lead to 20-6 and Crosley had a nifty 53 yard run to add 6 more to bring the score 26-6 at the end of the 3rd. Noordyk took the hand off early in the 4th and rumbled 51 yards to find the end zone again and Crosley connected with Talen Reichert-Slater for 2 points. Frens ended the scoring on an impressive 97 yard touchdown run and then added the extra point to bring the final score to 41-6. The Packers controlled the ground for an impressive 449 yards rushing as a team. Frens ended the night with a whopping 268 yards rushing on 21 attempts and two touchdowns. Noordyk had 116 yards on 11 carries and Crosley had 66 on 7 attempts as well going 3 for 7 for 16 yards in the air. The Packer defense was stingy lead by Asa Barnhard with 9 tackles and a sack, Noordyk with 6 and half a sack, Wyatt Shoemakers with 6 and half a sack, Michael Robinson and Jacob Burns with 6, and Jack VandenBerg with 5, The Packers travel to Oakridge next week for a WMC conference game.
