Girls Varsity VolleyballThe Fremont Lady Packers traveled to Grant for the final round of district play against neighboring school Grant. The Packers defeated Grant in 3 thrilling sets; 25 - 20, 25 - 16, 25 - 23, to win the District 39 championship. Offensive leaders for the Packers include Brynna Barnhart with 2 aces followed by Taylor DeKuiper Raenah Smalligan, and Railee Durham each with an ace. DeKuiper led with 10 kills followed by Hallie Snyder with 6, Ashe VandenBerg with 5, while Ava Geers and Ella Shriver each added 4 kills. Barnhart put up 25 assists on the evening. Defensively, the Packers was led by Grace Evans with 17 digs followed by Raenah Smalligan with 14 digs, Cece Crisman with 12 digs and Taylor Johnson with 9 digs. VandenBerg had 2 blocks while DeKuiper, Shriver and Barnhart each added 1 block. The Packers face the winner of District 37 and play Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in the semi finals of the regional round of the MHSAA tournament at Fremont at 5

Girls Varsity VolleyballThe Fremont Lady Packers traveled to Grant for the semi final round of district play against neighboring school Newaygo. The Packers defeated Newaygo in 3 thrilling sets; 25 - 16, 25 - 21, 25 - 16, to advance to the District final to play host school Grant. Offensive leaders for the Packers include Taylor DeKuiper with 7 aces and Grace Evans with 2 aces. DeKuiper led with 11 kills followed by Hallie Snyder with 7 while Ava Geers and Ella Shriver each added 6 kills. Barnhart put up 28 assists on the evening. Defensively, the Packers was led by Raenah Smalligan with 18 digs followed by Grace Evans with 13 digs, Taylor Johnson with 10 digs. DeKuiper and Shriver each had 2 blocks while Barnhart added 1 block. The Packers face Grant Thursday, November 6, 2025 in the district finals of the MHSAA tournament at Grant at 6:30 pm. Go Packers!

Boys Varsity SoccerThe Fremont Packers boys’ soccer team played South Haven on Wednesday evening for the right to advance to the state finals on Saturday. The pace was frantic at the beginning of the match with much of the play being dominated by South Haven. However, things began to settle down for the Packers about 20 minutes in and play evened out a bit. Although both teams had chances the score was 0-0 at the half. 30 seconds into the second half South Haven was awarded a penalty kick. Caleb Vissia was able to get a touch on the PK but the shot had too much pace to be stopped. Again play settled down until 25 minutes to play. Deagan Klimek took a ball to the corner and sent it across to Javon Basso. Basso ripped the inside of the far post to knot the match at 1-1. Both teams continued to have chances but neither could find the right combination until 3 minutes to play. The battled with the Mohawks, but lost 17 - 25 and 19 - 25 while defeating the Pirates 2 - 1 with scores 23 - 25, 25 - 15 and 25 - 23.Offensive leaders for the Pack include Grace Evans with 2 aces followed by Brynna Barnhart, Hallie Snyder, Taylor DeKuiper, Taylor Johnson and Railee Durham each with an ace. Snyder and Ava Geers led all attackers with 13 kills a piece while Ella Shriver and DeKuiper each added 9 kills and Ashe VandenBerg chipped in 8 kills. The Pack began the day playing Oakridge and defeated them in straight sets; 25 - 5, 25 -16; then defeated Manistee, 25 - 14, 25 -21 to make the championship match against Ludington. The Pack enjoyed redemption during the super competitive match as they defeated the Orioles in 2 sets, 26 - 24, and 26 - 24 to become the tournament champions and share the top spot in the conference with Ludington.Offense leaders include Raenah Smalligan with 8 aces, followed by Hallie Snyder with 5 and Taylor Johnson with 4. Boys Varsity FootballThe Packers closed the 2025 season with a 26-16 loss to Newaygo. The 1st quarter saw a 0-0 tie as the Packer offense drove inside the 10 yard line to see the drive end on downs. Newaygo drew first blood early in the 2nd quarter and again on their next drive to take a 12-0 lead, but Karter Frens found the end zone from 2 yards out with 50 seconds left in the half and Noah Hansen added the 2 point conversion to bring the score to 12-8. Unfortunately, Newaygo quickly moved their offense down the field to add another touchdown just before half to take 18-8 lead into halftime. The game stayed 18-8 through the 3rd quarter. Newaygo added another touchdown 5 minutes into the 4th to extend their lead to 26-8. The Packers quickly answered that touchdown with one of their own as Aiden Hunt found Hansen for a 21 yard touchdown and Hansen added the 2 point conversion to cut the end the scoring for the night at 26-16. Girls Varsity Cross CountryRegionals 2025Cold and calm weather. Great day for running.The girls came into the regional championship ranked fifth. Only the top three teams and top 15 individuals qualify for the state finals. Coming into the race we felt like we could compete for that third spot on the podium. That’s a great feeling, but on the day you still have to execute. From our first runner through our seventh the girls put together a complete race. They all either ran a personal record or a season’s best. Senior Linnea Paige PR and freshman Myah Breuker PR both earned a spot on the all region team by placing in the top 15. Linnea was seventh and Maya was 15. We talk a lot about trying to go out and run with courage. Today senior Joelle Patten exemplified that. From the gun, she went out and put herself in the top 10 determined to earn all region. In the last mile, she took a permanent seat in the hurt locker. Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Manistee High School
Boys Varsity SoccerThe Fremont boys’ soccer team took their unbeaten record into the regional final Friday up in Clare against Manistee. The PAckers had chance date chance in the first 9 minutes of the game, but couldn’t finish their opportunities. Deagan Klimek broke the scoreless match when he beat the Manistee 10 minutes into the half. 6 minutes later, Manistee knotted the game at 1-1. The Packers were quick to taping, when less than 2 minutes later Adam Kalika found Klimek again making it 2-1/. Or was 2-1 at half. Fremont came out with passion in the second half. Joe Welsh found Kalikawho beat several Manistee defenders for the goal. The final goal of the game came with 28 minutes to play when Christian Campeau crossed a ball to the far side where Garrett Hulst was waiting for the finish. Fremont improves to 21-0-2 overall while Manistee ends their season at 12-9-1. This is the first boys soccer regional championship in school history for the Pack

Girls Varsity VolleyballThe Lady Packers welcomed the Orioles of Ludington for a conference showdown of the undefeated Lakes division teams on senior night. In a 5 set back and forth thriller, the Orioles outlasted the Pack 3 - 2.Offensive leaders for the Pack include Brynna Barnhart, Taylor DeKuiper and Grace Evans each with 3 aces followed by Taylor Johnson with 2 and Railee Durham with an ace. DeKuiper led all attackers with 10 kills followed by Hallie Snyder with 9 and Ashe VandenBerg with 7. Barnhart tossed up 31 assists on the contest.Defensively, the Pack were led by Evans with 18 digs followed by Raenah Smalligan with 15 and Cece Crisman with 9. Boys Varsity SoccerThe Fremont boys’ soccer team took on Elk Rapids in the regional semi-final on Tuesday evening. Elk Rapids possessed the match for the first 15 minutes giving the Packers fits and putting them on their heels. Things began to even out a bit after that. Christian Campeau connected with Hudson Wiersema for the first goal of the game with 11 minutes to play in the first half. The score was 1-0 at the half. Fremont added to their lead when Deagan Klimek found the back of the net making the score 2-0 with 32 minutes to play. Fremont was given a red card for an intention hand ball stopping a goal scoring opportunity with 26 minutes to play. From that point on Elk Rapids dominated play. They scored with 23 minutes remaining and peppered goalkeeper Caleb Vissia with shot after shot. Vissia came up big time after time and preserved the win for the short-handed Packers. Boys Varsity FootballThe Packers playing shorthanded due to a number of injuries and struggled to get the offense going against host Whitehall and came up short, losing 56-0. The Packer offense was lead by Karter Frens who had 73 yards on 18 carries. The defense was lead by Jack Vandenberg who had 15 tackles, Logan Bruesch had 6 tackles and both Noah Hansen and Kayden Stenberg had 5 tackles each. The Packers close out the 2025 season on the road as they travel to Newaygo next Friday at 7.

Girls Varsity Cross CountryWarrior invitational at Chippewa HillsCool temperatures, Wet footing The girls were first of 12 complete teams with 54 points. Chippewa Hills was second with 78. The girls moved up well throughout the race and several had strong finishes to Drop a few more points in the last hundred meters. Senior Linnea Paige led the way for the Packers in third place. Freshman Myah Breuker placed sixth, freshman Natalie Kristofferson was 11th, and senior, Joelle Patten was 13th giving us four in the top 15. Senior Ava Krohn place 23rd and junior Kira Manchip placed 27th to give us six athletes in the medals. The boys also won the meet with 62 points. There were 14 complete teams and Howard city Tri-County placed second with 75 points. Senior Issac Romero ran a personal record to play second. Boys Varsity SoccerThe Fremont boys’ varsity soccer team took on Kent City in the district finals on Thursday afternoon. It was a tight game in the first half with not many opportunities being generated by either side. The score at the half was 0-0. The Packers came out in the second half with a little more urgency. Ten minutes into the half Christian Campeau found Deagan Klimek for the finish. Just 2 minutes later Joe Welsh assisted Klimek again giving the Packers breathing room. 2-0 was the final. Fremont outshot Kent City 10-4. Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 4 saves in net in the shutout victory. Fremont improves to 19-0-2 overall and Kent City ends the season 14-6-2. Fremont claims their second district title in 3 years and will play the winner of Elk Rapids and Kingsford.

Girls Varsity VolleyballThe Lady Packers traveled to Hopkins for their annual Switek memorial volleyball tournament.For the first round of competition, Fremont defeated Gobles, 25 - 5, and 25 - 6 and defeated West Michigan Aviation 25 - 13 and 25 - 11 to advance to the Gold Bracket of the tourney. The Pack faced Bridgman first, defeating them with scores of 25 - 14 and 25 - 11. Lastly, the Pack faced host school Hopkins and battled fo the championship. The Pack lost the first set but fought back and defeated the Vikings 2 - 1 with scores as follows; 24 - 26, 25 - 19, 15 - 8. Deagan Klimek scored 3 goals, Garrett Hulst added 2, and Adam Kalika, Javon Basso, Hudson Wiersema all had single goals. Kalika also tallied 2 assists and Basso chipped in one. Girls Varsity Cross CountryWMC Jamboree 3 at Whitehall60s and calm At the final WMC meet of the season the girls once again placed 1st with 28 points to go undefeated in the conference and win the conference title for the first time in 5 years. The girls ran a strong race placing 6 in the top 11. Linnea Paige (Sr) was our top runner placing 3rd, with Myah Breuker (Fr) in 4th with a PR, and Joelle Patten (Sr) in 5th with a SR. Freshman Natalie Christoffersen placed 7th with Senior Ava Krohn in 10th PR. Kira Manchip (Jr) placed 11th and Rocquel Richards (Sr) placed 20th PR to round out our top 7. Sawyer Semlow (Fr) ran a PR in 22nd, Jessie Kendziorski (Jr) had a SR in 27th, and Junior Emma Scott ran a PR in 50th. It was a great end to the conference season for this group. Boys Varsity FootballThe Packers played their last home game of the 2025 season and came up short against against Montague with a final score of 35-0. The Packers would start to get drives going, but seemed to stall out in the end. The Packers feel behind 14-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Pack seemed to outplay the Wildcats in the 2nd, but couldn't seem to find the end zone as they had a pass picked of in the end zone as time expired in half. The Pack gave up another score in the 3rd and two more in the 4th to close out the scoring. Leading the way for the Packer offense was Karter Frens with 106 yards on 16 carries and two catches for 43 yards and Aiden Hunt was 12 for 22 for 112 yards and two picks. Leading the way for the defense was Jack Vandenberg with 8 tackles, Noah Hansen with 7, Gabe Hulst with 6. The Packers travel to Whitehall next week.

Girls Varsity SwimmingThe Lady Packers hosted the Ludington Orioles tonight at the Fremont Rec Center. Excitement filled the pool deck early with an opening event win in the 200 yard medley. The 1st place relay team of Kendra Dykman, Haidyn Hilliker, Jada Stankus and Kameron Falbe and close finishing 3rd place crew of Abby Diehl, Kyli VandenBerg, Trina Silardi and Cat Gomes-Corder provided the team with an early 4 point lead. The Packers held the lead through the third event with Libby Kuiper taking 1st place in the 200 Yard Freestyle. The Packers trailed the Orioles by 2 points after the third and fourth events. Jada Stankus and Haidyn Hilliker finished 1 and 2 in the 100 Yard Butterfly to push the Pack ahead in event five.
