2023 D2 State Finals Perfect Conditions – 50 degrees, no wind, great footing. The perfect conditions led to one of, if not the fastest D2 races in the history of the meet on both the girls and boys side. Sophomore Linnea Page ran a 19:26 to place 58 th . 18:46 was 30 th place in the girls race. She had a solid race but in her words “struggled a little” in the last 1000 meters. Sean Pettis (Sr) placed 13 th in 15:34 to earn All-State honors after running with the large lead pack through the 1.5 mile mark. He faded a little through the 2 ¼ mark then moved up again in the last 800. Carter Sherman (Jr) just missed the bubble to be out of the masses by the mile and had to work really hard in the soup of humanity for the last 2 miles. He placed 89 th in 16:38 with a strong stretch run. 30 th place was 15:54. This was Sean’s 2 nd year earning All-State in cross country.
