MONTAGUE HIGH SCHOOL: 70.00
The Packers traveled to Montague for what turned out to be a shoot out that the Packers come up just short, losing 70-64 to the Wildcats. Montague struck first opening up an early 14-0 lead, but Khai Noordyk found the end zone from 10 yards out and added the 2 point conversion to make the score 14-8, Montague answered to close out the first quarter with a 21-8 lead. Brayden Crosley opened the 2nd quarter finding Jacob Burns in the back of the end zone for a 20 yard strike, then found Asa Barnhard for the 2 point conversion to bring the score to 21-16. Montague moved quickly to extend their lead to 28-16. On the next drive, Karter Frens got into the scoring action with a 34 yard touchdown run and Noordyk added 2 points to bring the score to 28-24 at the half. Fremont looked like they were poised to take the lead coming out of half, but a Montague pick 6 ended that and extended the lead to 35-24. Barnhard not to be outdone found the end zone on a 23 yard run and Crosley added the 2 points to close the lead to 35-32, but Montgue score last in the quarter to bring the score to 42-32 at the end of 3. Montague force punt and then were able to extend their lead to 49-32. Crosley was able to find Noordyk for a 21 yard touchdown pass, then found Barnhard again for 2 points to bring the score to 49-40. Fremont attempted and onside kick that Montague was able to return for a touchdown ad a 56-40 lead. On the next possession, Noordyk found pay dirt from 35 yards out and Crosley added the 2 to bring the score to 56-48. Montague looking to ice the game out, took a long drive and added another touchdown to extend the lead to 63-48. Fremont score in 3 plays on the next drive when Crosley found Culyer Cook-Hansen for an 8 yard touchdown pass and Noordyk added 2 points to bring the score to 63-56. Another onside attempt, another Montague return for touchdown and a 70-56 lead. The Pack never quit and scored for the last time with 6 seconds left when Crosley scored from 3 yards out and Frens added the 2 points and bring the final score to 70-64. The Packers had an amazing 743 yards on offense, with 486 yards rushing. Leading the running attack was Frens 246 yards on 26 carries and 1 touchdown and Noordyk had 172 and 2 touchdowns. Crosley was 10 for 19 and 266 yards with 3 touchdowns. Cook-Hansen lead the receiving corp with 113 yards on 5 catches and a TD and Barnhard had 112 yards on 3 receptions to go along 60 yards rushing and touchdown. Leading the way on defense was Noah Hansen with 13 tackles, Tritan Coorigan with 10 tackles and an interception, Trentyn Corley with 8 tackles, and Michael Robinson and Graison Hoppa both with 6. The Packers play at home next week as they host Whitehall for Parent's Night.
