Fremont 47  Comstock Park 45

We were able to hold on and beat a very good Comstock Park team at Comstock Park 47-45 to move on and reach the district finals which will be against Coopersville at 1pm.  We were down early 12-9 after the first quarter.  Braiden McDonald picked up his third foul early in the 2nd quarter but I left him in.  With about 3 minutes to go I took him out so he did not get his 4th and we were able to make a small run and go into halftime up 25-19.  We built up a 12 point lead I believe but Comstock finished the quarter strong and we led 37-29 after 3.  They continued to chip away and with 11 seconds left they were fouled down 1.  Their player made the first, missed the second.  Braiden McDonald secured the rebound and brought it up to about 3/4 court and we called timeout.  In the huddle I diagramed a play we have never run or practiced once and the kids executed perfect.  With 8 seconds left our goal was to screen and get the ball to our best player, Braiden McDonald in the middle, he took it from their driving the court and making a nice 6 foot shot off the right side baseline to give us a 2 point lead with 2 seconds to go.  After a timeout Comstock missed a desperation attempt.  Both McDonald brothers had double-doubles, Braiden McDonald with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Jordan McDonald played strong with 12 points,12 rebounds and 5 blocks.  Joshua Zerfas had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists.  Our only common opponent with Coopersville is Ludington.  We lost to Ludington by 18, Coopersville beat Ludington by 30.  We are 14-4, 12-2.
