The Fremont boys' soccer team traveled to Montague to play the Wildcats in the district final on Wednesday evening.  The match was tight from the beginning with neither side giving up many chances.  The score at the half was 0-0.  The battle continued to be close throughout the second half.  Montague's Trevor Trevino was finally able to penetrate the Packer defense and finished the lone goal of the match with 9 minutes to play in the game.  Montague outshot Fremont 10-7.  Fremont's keeper Caleb Vissia ended with 9 saves.  Fremont finishes the season 17-5 overall while Montague improves to 17-5.  Montague will play the winner of the Kingsford vs. Grayling match on 10/22.

The Fremont boys' soccer team traveled to Montague to play Whitehall in the district semifinal Monday afternoon.  The play was back in forth in the first half with Whitehall having the majority of the opportunities. However, Fremont's Deagan Klimek put the Packers up 1-0 on an assist from Avery Burns with 22 minutes to play in the half.  That score stuck until the half.  Fremont mounted more opportunities in the second half.  Klimek again found the back of the net on a ball from Hudson Wiersema just one minute into the second half.  The final goal of the match came from Joey Mansfield on an assist from Ian Berry with 24 minutes left to play.  Whitehall outshot Fremont 10-8 in the match.  Fremont's Caleb Vissia made 10 saves for the Packers.  Fremont improves to 17-4 overall while Whitehall ends the season 7-10-1.  Fremont advances to play Montague at 7:00pm on Wednesday.

The Fremont boys' soccer team hosted the Newaygo Lions in the first round of district play Wednesday afternoon.  Fremont got the scoring going just 7 seconds into the match when Deagan Klimek found the back of the net.  Klimek ended the match with 3 goals and 3 assists, Joey Mansfield tallied 4 goals and an assist, and Hudson Wiersema netted the other goal for the Packers.  Caleb Vissia, Flavio Marino, and Avery Burns also had single assists.  Fremont outshot Newaygo 25-1.  Caleb Vissia ended with 1 save in net for the Packers.  Fremont improves to 16-4 overall and moves on to play the winer of Oakridge/Whitehall on Monday afternoon at 5:00pm in Montague.  Newagyo finishes the season 6-11-1 overall.

The Fremont Packers boys' soccer team took on Manistee on Wednesday afternoon in the final WMC match of the season.  Fremont's Deagan Klimek put the Packers up 1-0 with 15 minutes to play in the first half.  The score was 1-0 at the half.  The Packers netted the next goal when Hudson Wiersema found Flavio Marino putting the home team up 2-0.  Manistee answered making the score 2-1.  Avery Burns finished the third Packer goal just a minute later.  The final goal came when Joe Welsh got a foot on a ball that went to Eddie Springstead for the goal.  The final score was 4-1.  The Packers outshot Manistee 12-5.  Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 4 saves in net.  Fremont ended the regular season 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the conference.  Manistee fell to 5-9 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

The Fremont boys’ soccer traveled to Whitehall for a WMC matchup against the Vikings.  It was a battle from the beginning with both sides getting multiple chances.  Fremont’s Redick Powell got the Packers on the board just 2 minutes into the match.  Joey Mansfield followed with a penalty kick goal making the score 2-0 at the half.  The Vikings came out with renewed energy in the second half but the Packers scored again 10 minutes in the half on a goal from Deagan Klimek.    Klimek finished the scoring with his second with 15 minutes to play.  Mansfield chipped in the assist.  The final score was 4-0. Fremont outshot Whitehall 14-10.  Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 10 saves and recorded the shutout while Viking keeper Garrett Taylor also made 10 saves.  Fremont improves to 14-4 and 7-2 in the conference.  Whitehall falls to 5-9 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

The Fremont boys' soccer team hosted the Montague Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon in a WMC contest.  Montague came into the match undefeated in conference play, in first place, and riding a 10 game winning streak.  The Packers were looking to put an end to that streak.  26 minutes into the first half Fremont Joey Mansfield put the Packers on the board off a rebound from the Montague keeper.  The score was 1-0 at the half.  Montague came out in the second half with more intensity and scored with 19 minutes remaining in the game on a shot from Hunter Phipps.  Flavio Marino found Colson Buitendorp to put the Packers on top for good with 10 minutes to play.  Caleb Vissia assisted Deagan Klimek on the final goal of the match with seconds left making the final score 3-1 in favor of the home team. Fremont outshot Montague 12-8.  The Montague keeper made 9 saves and Caleb Vissia for Fremont recorded 7 of his own.  Fremont improves to 13-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference.  Montague drops to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

The Fremont boys’ soccer team traveled to Ludington for a WMC showdown on Monday evening.  Ludington scored the lone goal 9 minutes into the match and that remained the final score.  Ayden Eaton netted the goal and the Orioles never looked back.  Ludington outshot Fremont 15-5.  Ludington keeper Gabe Gamez recorded the shutout and 5 saves.  Fremont’s keeper Caleb Vissia recorded 14 saves in the loss.  Ludington improves to 9-3-4 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference.  Fremont falls to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

The Fremont Packers boys’ soccer team took on the Hart Pirates in a WMC matchup Wednesday afternoon.  The visiting Pirates got on the board first just 2 minutes into the match when Adrian Belmares broke past the defense for the goal.  That goal stood until Ian Berry from Fremont knotted the game at 1-1.  It only took Hart 30 seconds to answer.  Tyler Larios-Mendez was able to get behind the Packer defense to put the Pirates up 2-1.  4 minutes later Fremont’s Colson Buitendorp received a ball from Avery Burns to tie the game once again.  The score was tied at 2-2 at the half.  It was back and forth until Joey Mansfield knocked the ball to Deagan Klimek for the game winner with 13 minutes to play.  Fremont outshot Hart 10-6.  Fremont’s Caleb Vissia made 4 saves in net while Miguel Escamilla made 7 saves for Hart.  Fremont improves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference.  Hart falls to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The Fremont boys' soccer team traveled to Shelby on Monday afternoon to take on the Tigers in a conference matchup.  Fremont got on the board twice in the first few minutes making the score 2-0 at the half.  The Packers added 4 more goals in the second half to make the final 6-0.  Joey Mansfield had a hat trick for Fremont while Deagan Klimek contributed 2 goals of his own.  Eddie Springstead also tallied a goal.  Klimek and Joe Welsh each chipped in an assist as well.  Fremont outshot Shelby 17-4.  Fremont's Caleb Vissia made 4 saves in net.  Fremont improves to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.  Shelby drops to 1-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the conference.

The Fremont boys' soccer team played its 7th game in 8 days on Thursday afternoon against the Muskegon Big Reds.  Fremont got out to and early start and ended up winning 8-0.  Joey Mansfield and Joe Welsh each had a pair of goals while Eddie Springstead, Deagan Klimek, Hudson Wiersema, and Florio Marino had single goals.  Marino tallied two assists as well while Avery Burns and Welsh gave single helpers.  The Packers outshot Muskegon 21-1.  Angel Renteria for Muskegon made 13 saves and Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 1.  Fremont improves to 10-3 overall.  Muskegon falls to 0-11-1.

The Fremont boys' soccer team was dealt a crushing defeat at the hands of North Muskegon Wednesday evening.  North Muskegon dominated play from the beginning win the match in convincing fashion 7-0.  North Muskegon was up 2-0 at the half before pouring on 5 more goals in the second half.  Fremont was outshot 20-3 in the match.  Caleb Vissia for the Packers made 13 saves.  Fremont falls to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.  North Muskegon improves to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

The Fremont Packers boys' soccer team made the trip to Ravenna on Monday afternoon to play the Bulldogs in a WMC match.  Ravenna struck first when Daniel Mares buried a penalty kick with 15 minutes to play in the first half.  The score was 1-0 at the half.  The Packers came out in the second half with a little more aggressive play and evened the score just 5 minutes into the half when Taylor Rowe was able to finish a ball from Joey Mansfield.  With 28 minutes to play Flavio Marino netted the game winner.  Fremont held on for the rest of the half.  Ravenna outshot the Packers 10-6.  Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 9 saves for the visiting team.  Fremont improves to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.  Ravenna falls to 2-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

The Fremont boys' soccer  team played Newaygo in the final game of the Newaygo County soccer tournament on Saturday afternoon.  The Packers scored often putting 8 goals up on the Lions.  Ian Berry and Joe Welsh both scored two goals for the home team.  Deagan Klimek, Sven Johnson, Reid Nelson, and Hudson Wiersema all added individual goals as well for Fremont.  Wiersema also added two assists each while Eddie Springstead, Klimek and Joey Mansfield had single assists.  Newaygo's Collin Gerouix scored Newaygo's lone goal.  Fremont outshot Newaygo 18-1.  Fremont improves to 8-2 overall while Newaygo falls to 2-6-1.

The boys' soccer team from Fremont took on the Grant Tigers on Saturday afternoon.  It took the Packers a little while to get going but the final saw the Packers winning 5-0.  Deagan Klimek scored two goals while Avery Burns, Carter Rottman, and Joey Mansfield all scored single goals.  Flavio Marino and Hudson Wiersema chipped in assists in the win.  Fremont outshot Grant 18-2.  Packer goalkeeper Caleb Vissia made 2 saves in net.  Fremont improves to 7-2 overall and Grant falls to 2-4-1 overall.  Fremont advanced to play Newaygo in the final match of the Newaygo County Tournament.

Fremont played Tri County in boys' soccer on Thursday evening in a tight non-conference match-up.  Fremont scored 21 minutes into the contest when Joey Mansfield found the back of the net.  The match was 1-0 at the half and that score stood as the game's final score as well.  Fremont outshot Tri County 10-7.  Fremont's goalkeeper Caleb Vissia ended with 7 saves.  Fremont improves to 6-2 overall while Tri County falls to 2-6-2.

The Fremont boys' soccer team played its second conference match against Orchard View on Wednesday afternoon.  It was a tight game from the beginning with both sides having opportunities.  The score was 0-0 at the half. Deagan Klimek put the Packers on the board first with 27 minutes to play in the match on an assist from Colson Buitendorp.  Klimek added to the lead when he finished a header from Hudson Wiersema with 14 minutes to play.  Orchard View wasn't done however and added a goal from Xander Randall with 3 minutes left.  Randall had an indirect kick attempt with 15 seconds to play that would have tied the match but Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made the save.  Fremont outshot Orchard View 9-5.  Vissia made 4 saves for the Packers while Landen Arvey made 7 saves for the Cardinals.  Fremont improves to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.  Orchard View falls to 3-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference.

The Fremont boys' soccer team played a nonconference match against the visiting Greenville Yellowjackets on Thursday evening.  It was a fairly even match until after halftime with the scoring being 0-0 at the half.  The Packers opened things up a bit in the second half with two goals from Deagan Klimek and two goals from Joe Welsh.  Avery Burns and Welsh also added assists in the match.  Fremont's shutout was broken up with just 13 second left to play in the match on a goal from Skyler Matulatis.  Fremont outshot Greenville 14-6 in the match.  Packer goalkeeper Caleb Vissia made 5 saves in net in the win.  Fremont improves to 4-2 overall while Greenville drops to 1-5.

The Packers boys' soccer team played its first conference match of the year on Wednesday afternoon against Oakridge.  Fremont won the game 6-0.  Joey Mansfield had a hat trick for the Packers while Deagan Klimek added two of his own and Reid Nelson added a single goal.  Hudson Wiersema chipped in two assists and Klimek and Taylor Rowe had single helpers.  Fremont outshot Oakridge 24-6.  Caleb Vissia had 6 saves for Fremont while Oakridge goalkeeper Isaac Willard made 18 saves.  Fremont improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.  Oakridge drops to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

The boys' soccer team traveled to Big Rapids for a nonconference match on Monday evening.  The game was back and forth with several lead changes but the Packers came from behind to secure the win.  Deagan Klimek put the Packers up just 2 minutes into the game.  However, Big Rapids scored 3 unanswered goals to make the score 3-1 at the half.  Keaton Edward, Mason Richards, and Rhys Kilpatrick scored the Cardinal goals.  Fremont came out in the second half with more passion and Joey Mansfield netted a hat trick in the second half.  Joe Welsh also added a goal for the Packers.  Klimek chipped in two assists and Hudson Wiersema also added an assist in the win.  Fremont outshot Big Rapids 14-7.  Caleb Vissia made 4 saves in net for Fremont.  Fremont moves to 2-2 overall while Big Rapids falls to 2-4-1.

Fremont hosted Hastings on Wednesday afternoon in boys' soccer.  The game was tight from the beginning but the visiting team ended on top.  Hastings started the scoring 8 minutes into the match on a goal from Troy Hokanson.  Hastings scored again 4 minutes later when Keagan Suffin found the back of the net.  The score remained 2-0 until Fremont's Joey Mansfield found Deagan Klimek with five minutes left in the half.  Klimek returned the favor to Mansfield just 2 minutes later tying the score.  The score was knotted 2-2 at the half.  Hokanson of Hastings hit the game winner with 25 minutes to play.  Fremont wasn't able to find the equalizer although they had multiple opportunities.  Hastings outshot Fremont 13-7.  Fremont's Caleb Vissia made 10 saves in the loss.  Fremont falls to 1-2 overall and Hastings improves to 2-1.

The Packers took on Belding Monday afternoon for their second contest of the season. The match was close at the beginning but Fremont was able to pull away at the end. Fremont led 2-1 at the half. Deagan Klimek ended with a hat trick for the Packers while Joey Mansfield, Redick Powell, and Eddie Springstead chipped in goals of their own. Taylor Rowe and Avery Burns each added two assists a piece. Cristian Montero netted Beldings lone goal while Elijah Kuitert made 10 saves for Belding. Caleb Vissia made 2 saves in net for Fremont. Fremont outshot Belding 16-3. Fremont improves to 1-1 overall while Belding starts the season 0-1.

The Fremont boys' team traveled to Grand Rapids to play West Michigan Aviation Academy on Friday evening.  It was a close match with Aviation coming out on top.  Ryan Hwail had the first goal with 8 minutes to play in the first half off an assist from Jimmy Lindhout.  The score was 1-0 at halftime.  The score remained 1-0 until Andi Gashi scored with 5 minutes remaining in the game.  Fremont was outshot in the match 3-14.  Fremont goalkeeper Caleb Vissia made 12 saves for the Packers.  Fremont drops to 0-1 while Aviation starts off 1-0.
