Fremont Varsity Packers Clinches Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat Big Rapids

Fremont Varsity Packers snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Big Rapids on Friday.  The game was tied at four with Fremont Varsity Packers batting in the top of the sixth when Joe Delong doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Fremont Varsity Packers earned the victory despite allowing Big Rapids to score three runs in the fifth inning.  Big Rapids big bats were led by Kidder and Sleeper, who all drove in runs.

Fremont Varsity Packers got things started in the first inning.  Fremont Varsity Packers scored one run when Brendon Maka singled.

Delong led the Fremont Varsity Packers to victory on the pitcher's mound. The righthander allowed ten hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out four.

Sleeper started the game for Big Rapids. Sleeper went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out four.  Zocco and Knuth entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one inning respectively.

Fremont Varsity Packers racked up seven hits in the game.  Delong, Logan Nelson, and Michael Baden all managed multiple hits for Fremont Varsity Packers.  Baden, Nelson, and Delong each managed two hits to lead Fremont Varsity Packers.

Big Rapids collected ten hits.  Knuth and Zocco all managed multiple hits for Big Rapids.
