The Fremont freshman volleyball team had a strong showing at the Lakeview Invitational this past weekend, competing against high level teams and proving they could rise to the challenge. The Packers opened with a tough loss to Shepherd (18–25, 14–25), where Emily Krohn stood out with a 25% ace percentage. The team quickly bounced back with a sweep over Central Montcalm (25–19, 25–23), highlighted by Peyton Stroven’s 20 serves and 6 aces, as well as Stroven, Naomi Van De Laar, and Clementine Spriggs each recording ace percentages above 30%. In their final matchup, the Packers split with Montague, taking the first set 25–23 before falling 11–25. Alexis Schoonmaker impressed at the service line, serving 8 times with 4 aces for a 50% ace percentage. While Fremont did not advance to bracket play, the team competed hard, showed steady improvement, and gained valuable experience.

The Fremont freshman volleyball team earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over the Reeths Puffer Rockets. After dropping the first set 22–25, the Packers battled back with a thrilling 26–24 win in the second, sealed by Naomi Van De Laar’s clutch final serve, and carried the momentum into a 15–12 finish in the deciding set.
Strong serving fueled the win, with Alexis Schoonmaker and Aleeya Witte each tallying 3 aces, while Peyton Stroven, Clementine Spriggs, and Emily Krohn added 2 apiece. Witte and Krohn also posted 2 kills each, with Clementine Spriggs, Braelyn Bowen, and Abbigail Dodson contributing at the net. Defensively, the Packers were outstanding, led by several key digs and steady passing from Schoonmaker, along with gritty defensive efforts from Madison Raugh and Bailey Berg, who helped keep rallies alive. Fremont showed grit and teamwork across the board to secure the match.
