Fremont boys and girls wrestled in the Eric Scott Mat Cat Classic at Montague this past weekend. Errika Herin-Balcom wrestled friday in the girls only tournament and took 5th in her bracket. Fremont boys wrestled Saturday finishing in the middle of the pack at 8th out of 16 teams. Placing for the Packers included: Ian Sholty (4th at 113) Landon Hekkema (5th at 120) Chase Montague (3rd at 126) Trin Worcester (4th at 138) Cole Lowery (4th at 150) and Graison Hoppa (6th at 285).

Fremont wrestled at Ravenna today in a WMC showdown against Ravenna and North Muskegon posting a 2-0 record on the day. Fremont got the ball rolling beating North Muskegon 45-33 before closing out the night against Ravenna by a score of 59-24. Undefeated wrestlers posting a 2-0 record included: Landon Hekkema, Chase Montague, Jamyre Norris, Trin Worcester, Cole Lowery, Gavin Lamadline, and Kyle Alderton. The 2 wins today bring Fremont record on the season up to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the WMC.
Fremont wrestles this Saturday in the Mark Houston Duals at Holton.
Fremont wrestling wrestled in the John Baum Invitational Saturday having some success going 3-2 on the day.
In pool play, Fremont beat North Muskegon 56-18, Belding 69-9, and Lowell 45-25 before suffering their first loss to Grand Rapids Catholic Central by a score of 44-30.
Fremont then wrestled for 3rd place but ultimately fell short to Lakeview 39-25.
Individually, Chase Montague and Trin Worcester posted 5-0 records on the day.
Ian Sholty, Mike Robinson, Gavin Lamadline, and Jamyre Norris also had success going 4-1.
Fremont wrestles next Wednesday at Ravenna HS starting at 5pm
Fremont Wrestling cruised to a 75-5 victory Thursday night over neighbor Newaygo. The lone loss on the night came at the 113 weight class.
Fremont is now 3-5 on the season.
Fremont wrestles Saturday at Belding HS
Fremont wrestling started out the West Michigan Conference play at home tonight vs Oakridge and Hesperia. Fremont got on a roll early opening up 72-8 against Oakridge only dropping 2 matches. Fremont closed the night with a barn burner against Hesperia dropping 42-35 in a tightly contested bout. Going 2-0 on the day for Fremont included: Ian Sholty, Landon Hekkema, Chase Montague, Gavin Lamadline, Mike Robinson, and James Wemple Jr.
Fremont wrestles again tomorrow night at Fremont HS vs Newaygo at 5:30pm
Fremont wrestled in the Kent City Kickoff Classic Friday going 1-3 on the day. Fremont started off with state ranked Cedar Springs first round and lost 78-6. Jammer Norris picked up the lone win in this one. Second match, Fremont wrestled host Kent City and lost 60-18. Seniors Chase Montague and Mike Robinson picked up wins as well as James Wemple getting a forfeit. Fremont bounced back against Byron Center winning 58-23 but then lost their final match against Whitehall 58-24. Chase Montague and Mike Robinson.posted 3-1 records on the day.
Fremont wrestles Oakridge and Hesperia next Wednesday at Home
Fremont wrestling started the season at Tri County going 1-1 on the day. Wrestled a hard fought win over Belding winning 42-33 then dropped the following match to Tri County 75-6.
