On a rainy mudding Homecoming Friday evening the Packers prevailed. The Packers ran the ball well all night behind the "Pancake Shack" also known as the offensive line (Noah Baker, Briar Hambrock, Andrew Steger, Kyle Nagel, Preston Hunt and Chance Crawford). Justin Dirheimer rushed for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns and Alex Gleason had 79 yards and a touchdown. Wei Chen caught a 32 yard touchdown pass to send the senior out in style. Fremont looks to pull the upset this week as they travel up to Reed City in CSAA gold action Friday night.

Lose: 12 - 20
The Fremont Packer Football team played one of their best games of the season and just fell short to the 5-1 Tri-County Vikings 20-12. The stats would indicate that the Packers should have come out victorious, but 5 turnovers proved to be too costly in the end. The Packers outgained TC 403-256 with 162 yards on the ground behind a young group of lineman (Andrew Steger, Soph. Kyle Nagel, Soph. Preston Hunt, Soph. Briar Hambrock, Jr. and Noah Baker, Sr.). Alex Gleason showed signs of great play at the QB position with over 200 yards passing. Defensively, the Packers played extremely tough forcing the Vikings to punt 6 times. Michael Romero had 13 tackles and an interception and Owen VandenBerg had 10 tackles. The Defensive line made it tough all night for TC to run the ball. The Packers will look to get victory number one this week verse Chippewa Hills which we will be celebrating Homecoming this Friday, October 8th.

Lose: 28 - 45
Second half comeback falls short for the Fremont Packers. The first half came with some heavy hearts among the Packer players and staff as they received some bad news prior to kickoff. The Packers fought back tremendously in the second half behind the wonderful blocking of the offensive line (Colby Wright, Noah Baker, Preston Hunt, Andrew Steger, and Owen VandenBerg) with Justin Dirheimer scoring 3 rushing touchdowns on his way to 173 yards. Combined the offense totaled over 400 yards in the game with some timely passing including an 80 pass from Kyler DeKuiper to Wei Chen. Newaygo's quarterback proved to be too much to stop on the ground and in the air as the Lions had over 500 yards of offense. The Packers will be home this Friday for the Grant Tigers.

Lose: 14 - 28
Second half comeback falls short for the Fremont Packers. The Packer Defense played extremely well, only giving up 286 total yards of offense to Central Montcalm and creating a turnover on the Hornets first posession of the game. Fremont's offense gave the ball right back by throwing a pick six. Fremont's struggles continue to be mistakes on the offensive side of the ball with three more interceptions thrown. Some highlights include a 62 yard touchdown throw and catch from Kuyler DeKuiper to Wei Chen and Justin Dirheimer punching in a touchdwon run from the two yard line. Defensively Michael Romero led the way with 14 tackles with 2 tackles for loss and Owen VandenBerg with an interception on Central Montcalms first drive. Fremont continues to be road dogs this week as they take the short trip to Newaygo in a heated rivalry game.

Turnover and penalties were too much for the Fremont Packers to overcome on Friday night. Big Rapids was able to start fast when a punt snap went over Michael Romero's head giving the Cardinals the ball on Fremont's 2 yard line and they scored on their first play. Fremont came back on their next possession and scored when Gabe Curtice caught a long tipped pass and took the ball into Big Rapids red zone. Justin Dirheimer scored a few plays later. Fremont was still in the ball game coming out of half time only trailing 13-6, but Big Rapids took their opening drive down and scored. A crucial turnover on Fremont's next possession gave the Cardinals great field position and they capitalized by taking the ball to the endzone making it tough for Fremont to come back.
