Win: 6 - 0
The girls JV Soccer team finished their season yesterday on a high note scoring more goals than in any other contest in the last 3 years. They were able to put the ball into the back of the net six times! The girls played a great all around game both offensively and defensively. The defense (Zoe Beecham, Madi Magers, Maria Mizgajska, and Maya Corbalromera) stifled Shelby not allowing a single shot on goal. They rarely even made it into the penalty area. The offense clicked all game scoring two goals in the first half and four in the second half.
The goals started with Sophia Gerhart taking a great pass from Dayanara Arellano and driving the ball inside the close post for her first goal of the year. The second goal of the half came on a great shot into the top corner of the net by Ava Krohn with the assist going to Jenny Ponce after a perfect lead pass. After halftime, the floodgates opened up and the girls scored 4 more goals. Makenna Scott took a cross pass from Grace Christoffersen and buried it before the goalie could even move. Alivia Wachter scored her first goal of the season by crashing the net and blasting a ball the goalie bobbled past her. Krohn then scored another by taking the ball from a Shelby player and drove in on the goalie before putting it past her. The final score came on a free kick from 20 meters out, and Grace Christoffersen curled a beautiful ball over the wall and into the top corner of the far post.
The team finishes the season with a 5-6-2 record. The team played their best game of the season and it was apparent to see the growth of the individual players and the team as a whole as they got better and better as the season progressed.

The Girls JV soccer team played Ludington last night in windy, cold, and rainy conditions which made play difficult. The ball skipped and slid across the field all game long which made it difficult to generate many scoring chances. The Packers were able to score the first goal of the game twenty minutes into the first half. Grace Christoffersen scored her third goal of the season when she sent a shot off of a defender and into the back of the net. The game stayed that way until 15 minutes into the second half when Ludington was able to put a ball up into the air and it floated into the back of the net.
