The Fremont Packers boys’ soccer team played South Haven on Wednesday evening for the right to advance to the state finals on Saturday. The pace was frantic at the beginning of the match with much of the play being dominated by South Haven. However, things began to settle down for the Packers about 20 minutes in and play evened out a bit. Although both teams had chances the score was 0-0 at the half. 30 seconds into the second half South Haven was awarded a penalty kick. Caleb Vissia was able to get a touch on the PK but the shot had too much pace to be stopped. Again play settled down until 25 minutes to play. Deagan Klimek took a ball to the corner and sent it across to Javon Basso. Basso ripped the inside of the far post to knot the match at 1-1. Both teams continued to have chances but neither could find the right combination until 3 minutes to play. South Haven got behind the Packer defense and finished a ball that hit the crossbar and went in. Fremont simply couldn’t get the equalizer and the final ended 2-1. South Haven outshot Fremont 15-4. Caleb Vissia made 13 saves for the Packers. Fremont ended the season 21-1-2 overall while South Haven improves to 18-3-3.

The Fremont boys’ soccer team took their unbeaten record into the regional final Friday up in Clare against Manistee. The PAckers had chance date chance in the first 9 minutes of the game, but couldn’t finish their opportunities. Deagan Klimek broke the scoreless match when he beat the Manistee 10 minutes into the half. 6 minutes later, Manistee knotted the game at 1-1. The Packers were quick to taping, when less than 2 minutes later Adam Kalika found Klimek again making it 2-1/. Or was 2-1 at half. Fremont came out with passion in the second half. Joe Welsh found Kalikawho beat several Manistee defenders for the goal. The final goal of the game came with 28 minutes to play when Christian Campeau crossed a ball to the far side where Garrett Hulst was waiting for the finish. Fremont improves to 21-0-2 overall while Manistee ends their season at 12-9-1. This is the first boys soccer regional championship in school history for the Packers. Fremont advances to play South Haven in the state semi-finals on Wednesday, 10/29, in Cedar Springs at 6:30 pm.
The Fremont boys’ soccer team took on Elk Rapids in the regional semi-final on Tuesday evening. Elk Rapids possessed the match for the first 15 minutes giving the Packers fits and putting them on their heels. Things began to even out a bit after that. Christian Campeau connected with Hudson Wiersema for the first goal of the game with 11 minutes to play in the first half. The score was 1-0 at the half. Fremont added to their lead when Deagan Klimek found the back of the net making the score 2-0 with 32 minutes to play. Fremont was given a red card for an intention hand ball stopping a goal scoring opportunity with 26 minutes to play. From that point on Elk Rapids dominated play. They scored with 23 minutes remaining and peppered goalkeeper Caleb Vissia with shot after shot. Vissia came up big time after time and preserved the win for the short-handed Packers. Elk Rapids outshot Fremont 25-5 in the game. Vissia made 24 saves for the Packers. Fremont improves to 20-0-2 overall while Elk Rapids finished their season 18-3-3 overall. Fremont advances to play Manistee at 6:00 on Friday the 24th in the regional final.
The Fremont boys’ varsity soccer team took on Kent City in the district finals on Thursday afternoon. It was a tight game in the first half with not many opportunities being generated by either side. The score at the half was 0-0. The Packers came out in the second half with a little more urgency. Ten minutes into the half Christian Campeau found Deagan Klimek for the finish. Just 2 minutes later Joe Welsh assisted Klimek again giving the Packers breathing room. 2-0 was the final. Fremont outshot Kent City 10-4. Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 4 saves in net in the shutout victory. Fremont improves to 19-0-2 overall and Kent City ends the season 14-6-2. Fremont claims their second district title in 3 years and will play the winner of Elk Rapids and Kingsford.
The boys’ Fremont soccer team played Tri-County in the district semi-final on Tuesday night. Fremont scored early and often winning 8-0. Deagan Klimek scored 3 goals, Garrett Hulst added 2, and Adam Kalika, Javon Basso, Hudson Wiersema all had single goals. Kalika also tallied 2 assists and Basso chipped in one. Fremont outshot Tri-County 15-2. Caleb Vissia made 2 saves in net for the Packers. Fremont improves to 18-0-2 overall while Tri-County falls to 11-9.
The Fremont boys’ varsity soccer team took on Byron Center Zion Christian in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon. The match was tight throughout but with 22 seconds remaining in the first half Avery Burns found Javon Basso in front of the net making it 1-0 in favor of the Packers. The second half was also tight but with 25 minutes remaining in the match Deagan Klimek found the back of the net from distance. Zion Christian was awarded a penalty kick with 2 minutes to play for their line goal of the match. Fremont won the match 2-1. Fremont outshot Zion Christian 10-6. Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 5 saves for the home team. Fremont moves to 17-0-2 overall while Zion Christian falls to 11-4-2 overall.
The boys’ Fremont soccer team traveled up to Manistee on Wednesday evening for a conference match up with an opportunity to win the WMC outright. Manistee struck first just 15 seconds into the match. Chauncey Manke flicked a pass over the Packer keeper Caleb Vissia. The Packers regrouped and 10 minutes later evened the match on a Deagan Klimek goal. 9 minutes later Klimek found Adam Kalika to take a 2-1 lead. The score was 2-1 at the half. With 16 minutes left in the match Manistee was awarded a penalty kick. Caleb Vissia was able to make the save however as the Packers held the one goal lead. Just a minute later Christian Campeau sealed the win with a shoot past the Manistee keeper. Although Manistee had several more opportunities including a shot off the post, the Packers secured the 3-1 win. Fremont outshot Manistee 20-6. Vissia made 5 saves for Fremont. Fremont improved to 16-0-2 overall and 9-0-1 in the conference. Manistee fell to 7-7-2 overall and 4-5-1 in the conference. With the win, Fremont wins the conference outright for the second time in the last three years.
The Fremont boys' soccer team took on the Vikings from Whitehall on Monday afternoon for a WMC match-up. Fremont was able to get on the board first when Corbin Martin tapped in a rebound off the Viking keeper's hands 15 minutes into the match. With only a minute to play in the first half, Javon Basso followed a shot from Deagan Klimek and made the game 2-0 in favor of the Packers. The score was 2-0 at the half. 15 minutes into the second half Cam Witteven headed a ball across the mouth of the goal where Basso again finished. Fremont outshot Whitehall 12-10 in the match. Fremont keeper Caleb Vissia made 10 saves for the home team. Fremont moves to 15-0-2 overall and 8-0-1 in the conference. Whitehall falls to 7-6-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the conference.

Fremont put things away early with Deagan Klimek netting 3 goals and adding 2 assists while Javon Basso contributed 2 goals and an assist. Adam Kalika scored 2 goals as well and Hudson Wiersema knocked in one. Corbin Martin had 2 assists and Christian Campeau had one. Fremont outshot Montague 22-2. Caleb Vissia made 2 saves for the Packers in the shutout. Fremont improves to 14-0-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the conference. Montague drops to 2-12-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the conference.
The Fremont boys' soccer team took on Ludington Monday afternoon for a WMC match-up. Fremont scored 3 minutes into the match when Deagan Klimek found Javon Basson on a throw-in connection. Ludington knotted the match when Steele Stowe redirected a ball past Packer keeper Caleb Vissia with 19 minutes remaining in the first half. The score was knotted at 1-1 at the half. Fremont again took the lead 15 minutes into the second half when Campeau bent a ball over Oriole keeper Gabe Gomez. With 15 minutes to play Ludington was awarded a penalty kick knotting the match again at 2-2. With 1:44 remaining Klimek was given a ball from Joe Welsh, broke free and buried the game-winner for the Packers. Fremont wasn't finished and with less than a minute to go Campeau iced the match on a ball from Klimek. The final was 4-2. Ludington outshot the Packers 12-10. Oriole keeper Gabe Gomez made 6 saves while Packer keeper Caleb Vissia ended with 10. Fremont improves to 13-0-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the conference. Ludington drops to 7-6-1 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
The Fremont boys' soccer team made the trip over to Howard City to play Tri-County on Thursday afternoon. The Packers got out to a slow start only leading 1-0 at the half. However, things came together in the 2nd half and the final was 8-0. Deagan Klimek led the way with 4 goals and 2 assists. Javon Basso netted 2 of his own and also added 2 assists. Christian Campeau and Adam Kalika both had single goals and single assists in the match. Cam Witteven also had an assist. Fremont outshot Tri-County 19-3. Packer keeper Caleb Vissia ended with 3 saves and the shutout. Fremont improves to 12-0-2 overall while Tri-County falls to 7-5.
The Fremont boys’ soccer team travelled to Hart for a WMC match on Wednesday afternoon. It was a sloppy match with Fremont taking the lead with 17 minutes to play in the first half. Adam Kalika found Deagan Klimek to make it 1-0. Just seven minutes later Kalika assisted Klimek again making the score 2-0 at the half. Hart was awarded a penalty kick 8 minutes into the second half making it 2-1. That score was the final. Fremont outshot Hart 22-3. Packer keeper Caleb Vissia ended with 2 saves. Fremont improves to 11-0-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the conference. Hart falls to 1-9-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the conference.

The Norsemen got out to an early 1-0 lead when Navaro Escareno finished a ball from Boston Stone only 10 minutes in the match. Both teams settled in and the score remained 1-0 at the half. The Packers came out in the second half with a little more energy and tied the match when Deagan Klimek fired a ball off of the keepers hands and Javon Basso tapped it in just 4 minutes after the half. Klimek scored on a set play 11 minutes later giving Fremont the 2-1. With 7 minutes remaining in the game North Muskegon finished off of a set play knotting the score at 2-2. That score held. North Muskegon outshot Fremont 12-6. Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 10 saves in net for the Packers. Braxtan Fairchild made 4 saves for the Norsemen. The Packers got out to a 2-0 lead at the half and added 2 more goals in the second half making the final score 4-0. Javon Basso tallied a hat trick and Deagan Klimek had the other goal of the match. Klimek also added 2 assists while Christian Campeau and Garrett Hulst had single assists. Fremont outshot OV 15-3. Caleb Vissia made 3 saves and recorded the shutout. Deagan Klimek had a hat trick with two assists and Hudson Wiersema had two goals and two assists of his own. The final was Fremont 5 - Greenville 0. Fremont outshot the Yellowjackets 15-5. Packers keeper Caleb Vissia made 5 saves in net and the defense recorded their second shutout of the season. Fremont improves to 4-0-1 overall and Greenville drops to 1-4-1 overall.

Deagan Klimek netted 4 goals in the match while Christian Campeau added another. The lone goal from Oakridge was scored on a penalty kick from Isaac Utzinger. The final score was 5-1. The Fremont boys' varsity soccer team opened up the 2025 soccer season with a non-conference match against West Michigan Aviation Academy. The Packers got out to a quick start when Corbin Martin netted a goal just 6 minutes into the match. Deagan Klimek scored the next two Packer goals just minutes later with one of the goals being assisted by Garrett Hulst. Fremont continued to apply pressure on the Aviators in the first half with Christian Campeau finishing a slotted ball from Klimek and Hudson Wiersema adding one of his how. The halftime score was Fremont 5 - Aviation Academy 0. Things slowed down in the second. Aviation's Ezra Sperring netted the Aviator's lone goal with 4 minutes left in the match. The final score was Fremont 5 - Aviation 1. Fremont outshot Aviation 14-4. Aviation's goalkeeper Dom Cichno made 9 saves. The Packer keeper Caleb Vissia made 3 saves. Fremont starts the season 1-0 while Aviation falls to 0-1.
