Boys JV Basketball vs. Reed City High School

Win: 72 - 49
The boys JV capped off the season with a convincing win over Reed City Thursday night.  The Packers started out fast and was able to get easy baskets with their full court pressure.  With a halftime lead of 11 the boys came out strong in the second half and quickly established a 20 point led and cruised home with a 23 point victory.  Ben Mellema led scoring with 20, followed by William DeBlake with 18 points.   Great season for the boys finishing 14-6 after a slow 2-5 start to the season against tough non conference opponents.

Win: 61 - 41
A solid win for the JV boys on Thursday against conference opponent Tri-County.  Fremont was able to build a 16 point lead by halftime and continued to control the game in the second half.  Excellent passing against their zone defense led many easy baskets for the Packers.  Leading scoring was William DeBlake with 20 and Kyler DeKuiper with 18.

Win: 59 - 44
Another win for the JV boys Tuesday night against Grant.  Fremont started off slow and only had a 2 point lead at halftime.  With a few halftime adjustments the Packers were able to gain a bigger lead by the end of the 3rd and continue to extend it throughout the 4th finishing with a 15 point victory.  Leading scoring was Kyler Dekuiper with 12 followed by John Vissia with 11 and Travis Mcdonald with 10.

Win: 66 - 63
Wow, big win for the JV boys in double overtime on Thursday night against conference rival Newaygo.  After trailing for most of the game the Packers fought back and took the lead late in the game.  Newaygo was able to tie it at the end of regulation and the first overtime.  During the second overtime however Fremont was able to hold onto a 3 point win!  Leading score was Ben Mellema with 16 followed by Will DeBlake with 11.  Kyler DeKuper, Owen Snyder and Andrew Stager all finished with 9 points each.  Truly a team effort!  We'd also like to give a big thankyou to everyone there cheering us on to victory.  Especially the student section, just amazing support, thankyou!

Win: 67 - 39
Despite a slow start on Thursday night the boys JV got another win against conference opponent Central Montcalm.  Fremont went to halftime will a small 4 point lead but came out strong in the second half and was able to establish a comfortable lead throughout.  Leading scoring was Kyler DeKuiper with 19 followed by William DeBlake with 18 and Ben Mellima with 17 points.

Lose: 46 - 52
Tough loss for the Packers on Thursday night to conference rival Big Rapids.  Fremont trailed for most of the first have and found themselves down by 9 at halftime.  After an amazing start to the 3rd quarter, the Packers quickly closed the gap and took back the lead.  By the end of the 3rd Fremont held a 10 point lead.  Big Rapids battled back and there were several lead changes throughout the 4th quarter.  Unfortunately the Packers could not get the led back in the closing minutes but it was a hard fought game right to the last second.  Ben Mellema led the team in scoring with 16 points followed by 14 from William DeBlake.

Win: 51 - 22
THe boys JV team continued it's winning streak at Montague on Monday night.  Good shooting from the outside along with solid defense allow us to establish a 23 point lead by halftime.  The seconds have we continued to maintain control and finish with another win.  Kyler DeKuiper led scoring with 16 followed by William DeBlake and Ben Mellema with 10 points each.

Win: 51 - 47
The boys JV came away with a hard fought win on Thursday night against Reed City.  Fremont got off to a slow start and trailed by 4 at halftime.  But quickly took the lead right away in the 3rd and never gave it back.  Fremont was up by as much as 12 points and was able to hold off Reed City for the win.  Kyler DeKuiper finished with 16 points, followed by Owen Snyder with 9 and William DeBlake with 8.

Win: 54 - 37
The boys continued their winning streak against Chippewa Hills on Tuesday.  Fremont started off strong and led the entire game.  Good full court pressure led to many turnovers and easy points for Fremont.  Leading scoring for Fremont was William DeBlake with 14, followed by Andrew Stager with 10 points.  Fremont travels to Reed City of Thursday @ 7:00 to try and make it 4 wins in a row.

Win: 56 - 26
Another win for Fremont at home against conference opponent Tri-County on Thursday night!  Fremont came out aggressive to start the game to take an early lead but was only able to establish a 7 point lead at halftime.  In the second have Fremont stepped up it's defense only allowing 9 more point by Tri County.  High pressure full court press led to easy transition score for Fremont and finished with a 30 point victory.  Leading scoring was Owen Snyder with 19 points followed by Kyler DeKuiper and Ben Mellema with 11 points each.

Win: 54 - 48
Fremont JV boys got back in the win column in a close game with Grant on Tuesday evening.  Fremont held a small lead for most of the game but was never able to pull away from Grant.  Late in the fourth quarter Fremont made some key free throws to seal the victory.  Leading in scoring was Kyler DeKuiper with 19 followed by William DeBlake with 18.

Lose: 48 - 59
Fremont lost another hard fought game on Thursday night against Newaygo.  The game was back and forth for most of the game with Fremont trailing by 3 after 3 quarters.  Fremont got into foul trouble early and during the fourth quarter it took it's toll and Newaygo was able to pull away late in the fourth.  Ben Mellema led the team in scoring with 12, followed by Kyler Dekuiper with 10 points.

Lose: 45 - 50
The boys JV lost a hard fought game to Ludington tonight.  Fremont led most of the first quarter but ended the first half trailing by 6.  They closed the led to just 1 after 3 quarters and Fremont took a 5 point lead with only 3 minutes remaining in the game.  Unfortunately they were unable to hold the lead and lost by 5.  This was Fremont's best effort this season despite the loss.  Kyler Dekuiper led the team with 11 points, followed by Ben Mellema and Owen Snyder with 8 points each.

Lose: 29 - 51
Fremont JV boys lost to Sparta on Tuesday.  After another slow start the Pack held their own and keep the game close for the first half.  Sparta was able to pull away in the second.  Fremont was led in scoring by Gabe Curtice with 7 points, followed by Owen Snyder and Kyler Dekuiper with 5 points each.

Win: 62 - 36
Fremont boys JV got back in the win column tonight against Central Montcalm.  Good full court pressure helped get them off to an early lead, up 17-5 after the first quarter.  Fremont controlled the pace of play and led from start to finish tonight.  Leading the scoring was Ben Mellema with 13 points and Kyler Dekuiper with 10.  Boys JV has a tough game heading into Christmas break in Sparta at 5:30 next Tuesday, Dec 21
Boys JV Basketball vs. Whitehall High School

Lose: 46 - 68
Fremont JV boys basketball was defeated by Whitehall on Tuesday.  Whitehall got ahead quickly and lead 37-20 at halftime.  Fremont continued to fight hard the entire game but was unable to gain any ground on Whitehall's lead.  Fremont had good balanced scoring led by guards Chaz Miller with 10 point, Kyler Dekuiper with 9 and William Deblake with 8.  As well as strong games by forwards Owen Snyder and Ben Mellema with 8 and 6 points.

Win: 62 - 14
Fremont JV got out to a fast start scoring 28 points in the first quarter. Full court pressure was the key to their early success. Leading the team in scoring was Chaz Miller with 23 points, Followed by Kyler Dekuiper and Owen Snyder with 10 and 9 points.
