Fremont Freshman were fortunate to participate in this JV Tournament. Despite playing a higher level of volleyball, the Freshman were able to hold their own. The first 3 games were against Kent City JV: 14/25, 23/25, and 13/15. It was a close contest. The serving was spectacular; only 3 missed serves per match.
The next match was played against Hastings JV team. Once again, the girls did a fantastic job serving. This game consisted of only 5 missed serves for the entire 3 games. Fremont took the first game 25/18 but lost the last two 17/25 and 9/15. Overall, the play was competitive.
The third game was played against Frankfort JV. By this point, Fremont's freshman had their heads in the game and were ready for their first victory of the day. Although our serving was not quite as effective, we made up for it with serve receive and hitting. Despite the victory, it was still a competitive competition: 25/15, 25/23, 16/14.
Once the game against Frankfort had been won, it was time for pool play which was a rematch against Kent City JV. It was a win in two sets for Fremont Frosh 25/23 and 25/12. Another great match played by Fremont's Freshman team.
The final match was played against Fremont's very own JV team. Although it was not a victory for the Freshman, it was a great game. 9/25 and 19/25.
Some tournament highlights include a coaching mistake that resulted in a solid middle block from Lily, who is nearly 5ft tall. A very competitive middle front was a major asset for us which was led by Khaila and Mia. Not only did Mia play front row, she also played back row where she was able to have several stellar saves. Maddie and Avery showed very aggressive attacking on the outside. Even our setter, Brylie was able to put away a few attacks. Of course, it all starts with a good pass. Chelsey, Lily, Taylor, Kylie, and Kiley all kept the team afloat with some consistent passing. Overall, it was a fundamentally strong day for the Packers!!
