REED CITY HIGH SCHOOL: 8
Ah, dear readers, gather 'round as I regale you with the tale of young Caleb Vissia, whose discerning eye and patient demeanor at the plate guided the Fremont Junior Varsity Baseball team to a splendid 12-8 triumph over Reed City on Thursday.
In a display worthy of acclaim, Vissia walked not once, not twice, but thrice, leading the charge for Fremont. The team's auspicious start commenced in the top of the first inning, sparked by an error that brought home a run. Collin Trouslot, enduring a pitched ball, selflessly brought in another. The dashing Lukas Carrier's single sent two more scurrying home, while Mason Sparks and Vissia, with their impeccable patience, each drew walks that added to the tally.
Fremont's relentless pursuit continued in the top of the third, where Vissia doubled, showcasing his prowess once more and scoring a run. CJ Naerebout followed suit with a double of his own, adding another run to the burgeoning scoreboard, and an error allowed two more to cross home plate.
On the mound, Mason Sparks delivered a commendable performance, yielding but four hits and five runs (only one earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking three. The ever-reliable Coltyn Zerlaut provided relief, ensuring Fremont's lead remained unassailable.
In a true display of teamwork, Lukas Carrier, Caleb Vissia, and Jack Vandenburg each drove in two runs. Vandenburg's bat was particularly lively, going 2-for-3 to lead Fremont in hits. The team's collective patience was a sight to behold, drawing six walks in total and turning a crucial double play in the game.
As the season draws to a close, barring any rescheduled games, Fremont proudly finishes with a record of 9-14. A season to remember, indeed!
