Despite out-hitting them five to four, the Fremont Junior Varsity Packers succumbed to an 8-3 defeat against the Mason County Central Spartans on Monday at Mason County Central.

Trent Gibbie, Eli Waite, Remi Faulkner, Colten Brown, and Mason Sparks each contributed one hit for the  Packers.

Fremont took an early lead in the first inning when Eli Waite drew a walk, resulting in one run scored.

Their lead extended to 2-0 in the top of the third inning due to an error.

However, the momentum shifted in the bottom of the third inning as the Mason County Central Junior Varsity Spartans surged ahead. Mason Sparks suffered the loss for the Fremont Junior Varsity Packers, pitching two and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on one hit, with four strikeouts and six walks.

Colten Brown led the offensive charge for Fremont, going 1-for-1 at the plate and driving in one run. Eli Waite showcased his speed on the basepaths by stealing two bases. Fremont displayed aggressive baserunning, amassing five stolen bases during the game.

Fremont Junior Varsity will face the Hastings Saxons in Hastings in their next game on Thursday.
