Fremont Junior Varsity Baseball Overcomes Reed City In Face Of Early 3-Run Inning Fremont weathered a push by Reed City in the first inning where they coughed up three runs, but still won 16-5 on Thursday. Fremont evened things up at three in the bottom of the first inning when Rem Faulkner grounded out, scoring one run. Fremont pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Austin Sparks singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Seth Zerlaut singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Trent Gibbie drew a walk, scoring one run, Deagan Klimek grounded out, scoring one run, and Brendan Derks singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Fremont notched seven runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Austin Sparks, Caleb Vissia, Mason Sparks, and Rem Faulkner, a walk by Seth Zerlaut, and a groundout by Brendan Derks. Owen VanderStelt led Fremont to victory on the mound going five innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out five. Fremont scattered 11 hits in the game. Rem Faulkner, Austin Sparks, Mason Sparks, and Cabeb Vissia each managed two hits to lead Fremont. Fremont also stole nine bases during the game WIth Seth Zerlaut, Rem Faulkner and Chase Mercer leading the way with two each.
