Packers Finish Runner-Up at Kent City Kickoff Classic 2022

The Fremont Packers’ wrestling team traveled to Kent City for their annual Kickoff Classic. The Packers finished in second place behind the 8^th ranked Division 1 Rockford Rams. The scores for the day were as follows:

Fremont 14   Rockford  57

Fremont 51   Byron Center 30

Fremont 42   Kent City 39

Fremont 72   Newaygo 12

The Packers looked tough in their season opener. Going undefeated (5-0) on the day were Briar Hambrock at 285 (all pins), Trey Myers at 175 and Tee Ward at 132. Michael Romero was 4-1 at the 215 pound weight class. Killian Prewitt, Cole Lowery, Braulio Gomez-Soto, Kaiye Miron, Chase Montague and Seth Zerlaut all had 3 victories.  Other Packers that tallied wins in the score book were: Kolten Belmarez, Joe Campbell, Wes Campbell, Ben Hasty, Lewis Hasty, Luke Langley, Kyle Nagel, Beckett Newell, Jamyre Norris, Ella Shields, and Cam Witteveen.

The Packers’ next meet is at home on Wednesday, Dec. 14^th, where they will compete against the West Michigan Conference opponents from Montague and Whitehall.  The meet starts at 5 p.m.
