The Fremont Packers Won the Hopkins Invitational for the Second Year In A Row!

The varsity wrestling team had a fantastic tournament on Saturday at Hopkins High School.

They were the champions in a field of 11 teams.  The final team scores were: Fremont 361.5, Plainwell 274, South Haven 216.5, Wayland 206.5, Kenowa Hills 197, Hopkins 190, Coloma 155, Shelby 141, Buchanan 133, Otsego 109.5 and Fennville 81.5

The five individual champions were:  At 103 pounds, RJ Thome , who had 4 pins and a major.  At 125 pounds, Gage Breuker, who won all his bouts by pin. Matthew Halasinski (140 pounds) and Chase Knudsen (171) also pinned all 5 of their opponents. Kyler Kolk pinned 4 times and won by a major. 

Fremont had four finalists that finished runner-up.  At 135, Gage Montague and at 145, Jager Kibart  both had 4 pins each. Also finishing second was Trey Breuker. Trey also recorded his 100th career win against Logan Till of Fennville with a pin in 5:32. At 215, Cody Visscher was also second with 2 pins.

Eli Beasley also had 4 wins at 112 and placed third overall.

Other winners were: Briar Hambrock (285), Caden Christoffersen (171),  Matt Long (145), Payton Mansfield (285), Michael Romero (189),  Colby Wright(285), and Nate Escalante (285).
