The Varsity team came out from the opening kickoff looking to control the ball game against Grant and came out on top with a 30-8 win.  The Packers opened the scoring with 3:11 left the 1st quarter when Conner Pettis punched the ball in from 3 yards out for the touchdown.  Owen Hertel added the two point conversion to make it 8-0.  In the 2nd quarter, Justin Dirheimer score from 6 yards out with 3:23 left in the half.  Kyler DeKuiper followed it up with a two point conversion to make the score 16-0.   With a quick defensive stand the Packers got the ball back and took advantage, Dirheimer scored with 23 seconds left after scoring on a 30 yard run to take the Packers into half with a lead of 22-0.  The second half was controlled again by the Packers, but only one more score, when DeKuiper hooked up with Dirheimer for 28 yard pass with 4:24 left in the 3rd quarter to make the score 30-0.  The final score was 30-8 as Grant score in the 4th quarter.  Justin Dirheimer had a career night rushing for 296 yards on 37 attempts, 28 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns.  DeKuiper was 2 for 4 and 42 yards and had 66 yards rushing.  On defense Michael Romero lead the way with 6.5 tackles and Daniel Romero had 2 interceptions.  The Packers controlled the time of possession 30:53-17:07 and outgained Grant, 440 yards to 251 to bring the Waterbucket trophy back to Fremont.
