Boys Varsity Football vs. Newaygo HS School

Packers lost a tough home battle with Newaygo. The game was tied 14-14 at the beginning of the 4th quarter when Newaygo scored 28 unanswered points from big plays and turnovers. Some highlights from the Packers included Payton Mansfield rushing for 118 yards on 21 attempts and 2 touchdowns. The offensive line along with the fullbacks of Tristan Marfia and Michael Romero helped to open the holes. Defensively the Packers were better than the score indicates. Defensive End Kam Hornof had a strong showing in his first varsity football game and sophomore Jacob Maier had an interception and 6.5 tackles. Next week the Packers drive across Newaygo Counter for a rivalry game verse Grant.
