Fremont Varsity Packers Drops Game to Big Rapids After Late Score

Fremont Varsity Packers stayed in it until the end, but Big Rapids pulled away late in a 12-2 victory on Friday.  The game was tied at two with Big Rapids batting in the bottom of the fourth when Vennix doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Fremont Varsity Packers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Big Rapids, giving up 12 runs.

Fremont Varsity Packers got things moving in the first inning, when Gabe Vanvleet singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Knuth was credited with the victory for Big Rapids. The hurler went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out four and walking one.

Michael Baden took the loss for Fremont Varsity Packers. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and 11 runs while striking out four.

Vanvleet and Brendon Maka each collected one hit to lead Fremont Varsity Packers.

Big Rapids scattered ten hits in the game.  Zocco, Strickler, and Vennix all had multiple hits for Big Rapids.  Zocco went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Big Rapids in hits.
