KINGSFORD HIGH SCHOOL: 2.00
The Fremont boys' soccer team made the trip up to Gaylord where they took on Kingsford from the upper peninsula in the regional semifinal match on Tuesday evening. The match was fast paced and even frantic at times. Kingsford struck first when Jett Buckley found the back of the net at the 23 minute mark. It 10 seconds for Kingsford to capitalize on another Fremont error and Jaxon Buckley broke through the Packer line making it 2-0. Things settled down for the Packers at that point and they slowly but surely started to out possess Kingsford. However, the score was 2-0 at the half. Fremont came out in the second half just where they had previously left off and finally got on the board when Silas Rinne buried a ball off a corner. The goal came with 33 minutes left to play. The Packers continued to have opportunities but couldn’t finish until 8 minutes remained in the game. Chaz Miller finished a rebound off the keeper knotting up the game. Fremont continued to press, even hitting the post, and finally scored with 45 seconds left. Rinne found Miller who flicked the ball past goalkeeper Adam Landon. The final was 3-2. Fremont outshot Kingsford 15-7. Caleb Vissia made 5 saves for the Packers while Landon made 12 saves for Kingsford. Fremont improves to 21-1-1 overall and Kingsford ends their season 21-2. Fremont advances to play Alma in the regional final on Thursday in Big Rapids.
