2024 Hill and Bale Invitational
Cool/Windy
The Pack had a good showing at this years Hill and Bale. I felt that for both teams it was our best team race in quite a while, which is a great way to kick off the season.
The boys ran first with the race getting out to a very controlled start. Senior Carter Sherman was tucked in the back half of a large lead pack, with Blake Taylor (Sr) about 10 meters off the back. Cole Lowery (Sr), Issac Romero (Jr), Chase Lowery (Jr), Mossen Green (So), and Brandon Rasmussen (Sr) were strung through the field chasing. After the 2 mile mark the pack began to break up. Carter and Blake held their positions in 7th and 8th through the finish line. Cole placed 10th, while Chase really moved up through the field despite taking a fall over one of the bales to place 14th. Issac placed 16th with Mossen almost chasing him down in 17th. Brandon ran one of his best races to date placing 24th. The boys placed 2nd with 55 points and a 1:30 1-5 split.
The girls placed 2nd with 77 points, beating Fruitport on the 6th girl tie breaker. Linnea Paige (Jr) ran smart race, biding her time and staying tucked behind the leaders, until making her push for the win at the halfway point. She ran very even miles, with her first being the slowest.
Rachel Maddox (Sr) and Joelle Patten (Jr) did a great job working through the field all the way to the finish line. They places 11th and 14th respectively with Joelle almost catching 13th after closing a big gap. Kira Manchip (So), Rocquel Richards (Jr), and Jailyn Saum (So) ran a pretty even paced race to also move up in the second a half. This was Jailyn's first race and she earned her uniform. Kira placed 21st, Rocquel was 30th, and Jailyn was 32nd.
Freshmen Max Taylor and Jake Christoffersen represented Fremont well placing 2nd and 8th. Max led for most of the 2nd half but was passed in the home stretch. I thought this a great showing for him and a good learning experience. Max's time, would have placed him in our top 7. Jake showed some real toughness in the last 1000 to close a big gap and just miss running down 7th. In the girls JV race we had 3 girls brand new to cross country, running to earn their uniforms. All three did a great job with their early pacing and were able to finish strong. Ava Krohn (Jr) really moved up in the second half of the race to place 20th, with Maddi Dunbar (So), and Alayna Bukala (So) also being able to move up. All three earned their uniform.
