WMC Mega Jamboree
10/18/2022
Windy, Chilly and Wet
The final conference meet of the season concluded today in a Mega Jamboree. Due to flooding, the race was moved from Mason County Fairgrounds to Fremont’s Hill and Bale course. While the meet was scored separately by division, the 14 schools in the West Michigan Conference raced together through a wet, muddy, and sloppy course. The boys adapted well to the weather and ran a solid race to finish first in the Lakes Division with 35 points, their best score in conference races. Sean Pettis and Carter Sherman ran smart in the windy conditions and worked together to finish 3rd and 4th. Johnny Christensen got out a little fast but had a good race finishing 6th. Henrik Quist got out a little slow today but did a great job moving up through the second half of the race.
The girls adapted well today and did not let the conditions interfere with their race. Linnea Paige listened and responded to prompts to move up in the pack during the first mile and by the time she reached the two mile she was leading for our division and never gave up the lead to take first place in the Lakes Division. Ariana Tanner finished in 15th and Joelle Patten finished 18th, both girls finished better than they have in previous conference races. Elise Pfeiffer ran a strong race today finishing with only one shoe.
The next race will be Saturday at Chippewa Hills.
