Cougar Falcon Invitational – Saturday

Cool temps – calm

We had great weather for running today and the athletes took advantage of it.  The girls placed 8^th, with all 6 girls recording either a PR or SR.  Linnea Paige (Fr) got buried at the start and had to find space to be able to move up.  All divisions ran together so there was about 30 teams on the start line.  She moved up well to place 18^th in the Cougar division.  Joelle Patten (Fr), Ariana Tanner (Fr), Rocquel Richards (Fr), Elise Pfeiffer (Jr), and Rachel Maddox (So) were packed up the first mile then spread out a little as they went on to run some great times.

The boys placed 5^th  with our best pack running of the season.  Our 1-5 split was 23 seconds, 43 seconds 1-6.  Sean Pettis (Jr) placed 20^th in the Cougar division to lead the way, but Johnny Christensen (Jr),  Carter Sherman (So), Chase Lowery (Fr), and Henrik Quist followed shortly.  Every boy ran a PR today.  Most promising was that the group of Johnny, Carter, Chase, and Henrik passed the 3K mark at close to 10:30 which is 17:30 pace.  The means they ran the last 2K at a faster pace than the first 3K.

In the JV race Blake Taylor (So) ran the best race of his career steadily moving up after the mile mark and then making a big push with 600 to go to place 12^th overall and first in the Cougar division.  Brandon Rasmussen (So) also Pr’d with a big push in the last 600 meters.

Mikael Thomas earned his uniform with a solid first run in the Freshman race.  He just joined the team 2 weeks ago and is showing promise as he continues to learn to be a distance runner.
