WMC XC Jamboree #1 at Fremont – 9-13-22

Weather was calm and warm

Our first race in the new conference.  We had raced Whitehall on this past Saturday at the Hill and Bale where they beat us by 8 points so we thought we might have a chance to get them today.  The boys learned a great lesson on the importance of team as they were able to win based on the tie breaker.  5 runners score.  If teams are tied, the tie is broken by who had the faster 6^th runner.  Today our 6^th runner was Issac Romero (fr) in 15^th place, 5 places ahead of Whitehall’s 6^th.  All the boys ran faster than they did at the alumni race so we are making progress.    The boys also did a great job of moving up throughout the race.  We need to close up our 1-5 split as we are at about 1:20 but we are heading in the right direction.

The girls ran a really focused race, with some good pack running by Arianna Tanner, Joelle Patten, and Rocquel Richards (all Freshmen).  They worked together through the first mile and a half before they began to split up a little.  The girls were also involved in a tie, with Elise Pfeiffer (so) placing 4 slots ahead of Manistee’s 6^th runner to break the 97 pt. tie.  The girls all also ran faster than their times from the alumni race.  I was most impressed by the racing focus I am starting to see in this group.
