Cougar Falcon Invitational

Cool weather, mostly calm

All teams ran together in one race, with team scoring and individual placing separated into 3 divisions.  We were in the middle division – Cougar.

Girls Varsity – Taava Johnson (sr) turned in one of the best races of her career to record a SR of 21:15 to place 22^nd in our division.  She moved up well throughout the race, and had a strong finish in the last 400 meters.

Girls JV – Elise Pfeiffer (so) ran a great race, also moving up well to place 52^nd in 24:47.  Exchange students Gina Naes, Carol Portelinha, and Amy Perret worked together for most of the race to each record a PR.  Hailey Spangle (so) continues to gain experience having a much better start today.

Girls Freshman – Both Rachel Maddox and Shyann Callison ran PRs today.

Boys Varsity- The boys placed 3^rd with 82 points.  Conor Somers (sr) led the way placing 4^th, 16:05.  Brennan Schuler ran a great race to PR in 11^th at 16:50.  Gavin Schuler (sr) placed 16^th with a season record.  Johnny Christensen (so), Cole Lowery (fr), Henrik Quist (jr) and Carter Sherman (fr) all ran PRs.  

Boys JV – Sean Pettis (so) slowly moved from 12^th at the mile, to 4^th at the 2 mile, and then second at the finish running a big PR and earning a spot on Varsity.  Gary Springstead (jr) mirrored Sean’s progress but came from a little further back.  He really moved through the field in the second half of the race to finish 3^rd in a great sprint finish.  Gary also ran a PR and earned a short lived position on Varsity. 

Boys Freshmen – Gabe Jones got out a little fast but held on to run a big PR and slip in front of Gary for the last Varsity slot.  Luke Bradley continues to get better every race, running another PR.
