Fremont's season ended with a 34-22 loss against Montague in the second round of District play at Montague on Wednesday night. The Wildcats used full court pressure defense to jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. The Packers settled in and used solid defense to hold a 7-4 advantage in the second quarter, but trailed 18-12 at the half. Montague outscored the Packers 11-4 in the third for a 29-16 lead at the end of the quarter. Fremont held a 6-5 advantage in the fourth to set the final score. The Packers finished with 27 turnovers in the game. 

Emma Peterson led Montague with 15 points, while 7 other players combined for the remaining points scored despite nobody having more than 4. Fremont only had four players tally points, led by Olivia Hansen and Jessica Bennett with 7 each and Lily VandenBerg with 6. The Packers finished the season with a 9-15 record. Montague stands at 16-7, and moves on to play Whitehall in the District 40 Finals on Friday at Montague.

Coach Zerlaut -- "Montague's pressure defense was the difference in the game. Our girls played with great energy and effort, but we struggled to maintain control of the ball. Even when we effectively broke the press, our shots just looked rushed. They did a good job of speeding us up and taking us out of our comfort zone."
