Fremont opened District play at Montague on Monday night with a 46-29 victory over Newaygo. Newaygo jumped out to a 9-4 advantage before the Packers evened the score 10-10 by the end of the quarter. Fremont then outscored the Lions 10-6 in the second quarter for a 20-16 halftime lead. The third quarter saw the Packers begin to pull away with a 15-6 advantage, led by Jessica Bennett's 8 points in the quarter. In the final quarter, Fremont outscored Newaygo 11-7 to set the final score. 

Fremont was led by Bennett's game-high 16 points, while Mia Clemence had 9, and Eliana VandenBerg chipped in 6. Newaygo was led by Barbara Toth's 8 and Grace Painter's 6. Fremont improves to 9-14 on the season. Newaygo finishes the season at 6-16. 

Coach Zerlaut -- "We expected Newaygo to be ready to play. They jumped out early on us, but we were able to play through some opening quarter nerves and gain our footing a little. The third quarter was big for us to gain some momentum and confidence as we opened up the lead a bit. However, Newaygo didn't go away and battled until the end."
