REED CITY HIGH SCHOOL: 34
Fremont traveled to Reed City Friday night to face the Coyotes and came home with a 44-34 victory. The Packers jumped out to a great start, outscoring the hosts 13-2 in the first quarter. An 11-10 advantage for Fremont in the second quarter made the halftime score 24-12. Reed City outscored Fremont 9-7 in the third quarter, but the Packers still enjoyed a 31-21 lead. Reed City still had a run left in them, though, and cut the lead to four at one point in the fourth quarter before a couple key baskets and made free throws sealed the win for Fremont.
Haley Zerlaut led Fremont with 17 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Kaitlynn Bennett had 6 points and 5 steals, while playing very good post defense. Eight different Packer players scored in the game. Reed City was led by Christina Malackanich with 13 points and Kyleigh Weck with 8.
Fremont concludes the regular season with a 4-16 record, 4-10 in the CSAA Gold conference. They travel to Comstock Park to face the hosts in district play on Monday.
Coach Zerlaut -- "We had a very good start tonight. We shared the ball well on offense and really worked hard on the defensive end. We had a 24-4 lead at one point, but our effort faded a bit to close the half and we had some unforced errors on offense. That was kind of the same story in the fourth when Reed City cut the lead to four, but a clutch three-pointer by Sydney Moon and 6-9 from the free throw line for Haley Zerlaut in the quarter allowed us to open the lead back up a bit."
