Fremont traveled to Whitehall Tuesday night to face the Vikings and suffered a heartbreaking defeat 56-54 in overtime. It was a foul plagued game, with Fremont being whistled for 25 fouls and Whitehall 20 on the night. Fremont held a 10-8 advantage after one quarter, but the fouls caught up with them in the second and led to individual players on the bench, as well as 16 first half free throws for Whitehall. They made 10 of those. Whitehall led 31-26 at the intermission. The second half saw a strong third quarter from the Packers, with a 14-3 advantage. However, the Vikings came storming back with a 16-10 advantage in the fourth to send the game into overtime. Fremont was then outscored 6-4 in overtime. 

Fremont was led on offense by Haley Zerlaut's 27 points and 7 rebounds. Lily VandenBerg had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Khaila Noordyk had 8 points and 6 rebounds, while Jessica Bennett added 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Whitehall was led by Charley Klint's 22 points.

Coach Zerlaut -- "We've been talking all year about needing better effort. We got that tonight. I was very proud of the girls tonight, despite coming up short on the scoreboard. It was a very physical game. We got into foul trouble early and faced a lot of adversity throughout the night. We definitely had our chances, and things looked pretty good when we built a 44-34 lead early in the 4th quarter. Credit to Whitehall for battling back from that deficit. The foul trouble ended up catching up with us with 3 players fouled out in regulation and getting outscored by seven points at the free throw line. We also had 29 turnovers. You don't usually have a chance to win with that many wasted possessions, but the girls continued to battle tonight and give themselves a chance. Unfortunately, we came up short."
