BIG RAPIDS HIGH SCHOOL: 61
The Packers traveled to Big Rapids on Friday night and suffered a 61-35 defeat. The game only remained close for about 3 minutes and then Big Rapids took control. The Cardinals led 15-6 after one quarter, 35-12 at halftime, and 56-17 after three quarters of play. They made eight three pointers on the evening to go along with eleven two points baskets and 15-33 from the free throw line. The Packers only managed single digits in each of the first three quarters before an 18-5 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Fremont was led by Jessica Bennett with 8 points and 5 steals. The Cardinals were led by Rylee Haist's 25 points, which included six made three-pointers. Fremont travels to Whitehall for a non-league matchup next Tuesday.
Coach Zerlaut -- "We were outplayed tonight. Big Rapids is a good team, but we didn't match their effort, energy, or intensity. I feel like we have made some positive strides in the past couple weeks in that regard, but we took a step backward tonight."
