The Packers dug too big of a hole to climb out of in the home opener and fell to Shelby 53-41. Shelby held a 14-4 advantage after one quarter, and led 32-14 at the half. Fremont shot 4-34 (12%) in the first half, while Shelby was 11-24 (46%). The Packers came out of the gate cold again to start the second half and fell behind by 24 points before they turned up the defensive pressure and started finding the basket on offense. Fremont cut the lead to 8 with 3:00 to play in the game, but could get no closer as Shelby came up with a couple timely steals and made enough free throws down the stretch to seal the win. 

Kendall Zoulek paced the Tigers with 17 points, while Molli Schultz and Ella Olmstead each had 13. Fremont was led by Haley Zerlaut with 21 points and 4 steals. Mia Witte had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Kaitylnn Bennett had 12 rebounds and 4 steals. Jessica Bennett added 6 points and 9 rebounds. 

The Packers (0-2) begin league play on Friday with a home game against Big Rapids.
