TRI-COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: 49
Fremont hosted the Tri County Vikings on Friday night, and were down big early in the game. The Packers struggled mightily on offense, making only three field goals in the entire first half. They trailed 16-3 after the first quarter and 31-9 at the half. They doubled their point total in the third quarter, but gave up 11 more to the Vikings, and trailed 42-18 going into the final quarter. The fourth quarter saw Fremont find a spark, with some spirited defense and finally finding the bottom of the net on offense. They trimmed the lead to 13 points with 5:00 minutes left, but two quick TC baskets and another 3:00 minute scoring drought for the Packers sealed the Tri County win 49-34.
The Packers were led by Calla Miller's 11 points, and Haley Zerlaut had 9. Kaitlynn Bennett had 10 rebounds. Tri County had a balanced attack with Ashley Bialek scoring 19, and Alicia Bowen and Mary Siple each adding 12.
Fremont falls to 3-8 on the season, 3-7 in the CSAA Gold. They host Whitehall on Monday in a non-conference matchup.
Coach Zerlaut -- "We lacked energy out of the gate tonight, which is concerning. I understand our fatigue with the number of games and practices we have in such a short window of time. However, every team is dealing with that and we need to figure out how to bring our best effort every night. We will take tomorrow off, and get back in the gym Sunday to prepare for Whitehall."
