After a slow first quarter, both teams got the offenses rolling. Tri County led 9-4 after the first quarter. However, in the second quarter Calla Miller got the Packers rolling by pouring in 13 points on three 3-pointers and 4-4 from the FT line. Fremont led 21-18 late in the half, but a TC triple knotted the the score at 21 just before the buzzer.
Tri County came out of the half still hot from long range, as Mary Siple hit two more threes in the quarter and the Vikings held a 34-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The fourth saw more offense from both sides, as Miller scored another 13 in the quarter to keep the game neck and neck. Tri County, however, hit enough of their free throws down the stretch to hold onto the lead. Tri County had a triple attempt at the buzzer that missed the mark and the final score was Tri County 51 and Fremont 48.
Miller ended up with 30 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists on the night for the Packers. Kennedy Christoffersen had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Tri County was led by Mary Siple's 19 points and Ashley Bialek had 11.
The win improves the Vikings' record to 3-1, while the Packers drop to 0-4. Fremont gets right back to it with three more games in the next four days, first traveling to Shelby for a Saturday matinee.
Coach Zerlaut -- "Obviously Calla had a great game offensively. That's what people notice, and deservedly so. However, it was truly a team effort tonight as many girls contributed on the defensive end, rebounded, and took care of the basketball."
"We shook off a horrible shooting performance from earlier in the week and played a very good game against another good team tonight. As soon as a couple more girls gain some confidence offensively and look to score the ball, wins will start coming."
