We overcame a lot of adversity in this game to gain the win against Newaygo.  Already one starter down before the game our starting center was told just 15 minutes before the start that he had to go home and quarantine.  That left us two down and then early in the second quarter one of our guards broke his hand.  we were down 10 at that point in the second quarter and could have gave in, but our kids showed no backdown.  After trailing 21-12 after the first we scored 20 against Newaygo's 17 and went into halftime down 38-32.  The Third became a shootout between Fremonts Braiden McDonald who scored 20 points in the quarter against Newaygos Ashton Stephens who had 16 in the quarter.  We had 4 others score in the quarter though and we put up 31 points in the third, almost as many as we scored the whole game(34) vs. Big Rapids on Tuesday. In the third we had built up a 12 point lead but Newaygo kept battling back.  We headed into the 4th up 63-57 and never trailed after that.  We like to shoot 3's too quickly sometimes but this game saw us attack the paint much better and get to the free throw line a lot, making 31 out of 36. Returning 1st team all-stater Braiden McDonald ended with a monster game of 34 points and 17 rebounds.  Joshua Zerfas was great at the point for us with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.  Lane Converse played outstanding in his first career varsity start with 9 points and 4 steals.  Martin Curiel and Jordan McDonald both had 8 points.  For Newaygo Stephens ended with 31 points, Wyatt Mortensen had 21 points and Bryce Decker had 10.  We are 1-1, 1-1.
